  • The Wood County Breastfeeding Coalition (website) - provides information, support, and recognition to child cares and businesses that implement breastfeeding friendly policies and environments.
  • 10 Steps to Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Centers Resource Kit (pdf) - A free resource kit to assist child care centers & community groups to implement strategies to promote, protect & support breastfeeding women. Includes a self-appraisal tool & resources for planning & implementing action plans. Child care staff can earn CEU's.
  • Farm to ECE (webpage) - Learn more about farm to early care and education (0-5 age group) at WDPI's Farm to ECE site.
  • Cultivating Childhood Wellness Through Gardening (webpage) - Free online video training for teachers, EC professionals, & community educators covering garden planning, activities, and curricula.
  • Growing Healthy Children (pdf) - A toolkit for garden-based nutrition education featuring activity cards with nutrition lessons & resources for school or ECE's sites classroom, cafeteria, or garden.
  • Got Veggies? (website) English   Spanish - A garden-based nutrition education curriculum created with the goal of getting children to eat more fruits & vegetables.
  • Got Veggies? ECE Edition (pdf) - Based on Got Veggies?, this garden-based nutrition education curriculum version builds on lessons & activities by adapting them to meet best practices for the early care & education (ECE) setting. Alignment with the WMELS is also included.
  • Teaching in Nature’s Classroom (website) - Author Nathan Larson shares a philosophy of teaching in the garden through 15 guiding principles of garden-based education. Free download.

  • Rethinking Nutrition in Early Childhood Programs (website) - UW Extension resource that connects the science of nutrition and child development with practical ideas for child care staff
  • Got Dirt? (website) English   Spanish - In an effort to increase fruit & vegetable consumption in WI, the Dept of Health Services Nutrition & Physical Activity program developed this program to assist with the implementation of school, community & child care gardens.
  • Rooted (webpage) - A joint effort between Community Groundworks and Center for Resilient Cities. this site houses resources for the Wisconsin School Garden NetworkFarm to Early Education, and Wisconsin School Garden Funding Opportunities.

NATIONAL RESOURCES

  • US Dept of Agriculture Nutrition Resource for Schools (website) - Team Nutrition supports PreK through High School meal programs, including those participating in federal child nutrition programs, by providing training for school foodservice and nutrition education for children and families.
  • Farm to Early Care & Education (website) - Network of information, advocacy & networking hub for communities working to bring local food sourcing & food & agriculture education into schools and early care & education settings.
