Birth to 5: Watch Me Thrive! was created by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Education1, to encourage the celebration of developmental milestones, promotion of universal developmental and behavioral screening, identification of possible delays and concerns early, and enhancement of developmental supports.

This one-page document from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is made to be duplicated and sent to families as a resource. It explains what a developmental screening is and answers questions families may have related to the screening process.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) provides information and resources on developmental milestones, monitoring, and checklists to help parents understand and support child development

Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Initiative (website)
This initiative from the National Technical Resource Center focuses on extending the benefits of periodic hearing screening for young children in a variety of health & education settings. It provides resources for technical assistance, training, evidence-based practices, and partnership opportunities with national EHDI systems of care organizations and other key stakeholders, including those that represent and/ or serve families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Easterseals (website)
Easter Seals offers a free, comprehensive and confidential online Ages and Stages Questionnaire screening tool to help guide and keep track of your child’s growth and development during these first five years.

Wisconsin Sound Beginnings (WSB) (website)
Wisconsin Sound Beginnings (WSB) is the State’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program, ensuring that all babies born in Wisconsin are screened for hearing loss, receive a timely diagnosis of hearing loss and receive quality early intervention.

Lions Club Vision (website)
The Wisconsin Lions Foundation, in partnership with Prevent Blindness Wisconsin coordinates Lion Club member training for certification and recertification for vision screenings. Local Lions Clubs sponsor and conduct vision screenings in their own communities.
