The PALS collaborative program in Sun Prairie started with baby steps in 1998. Lydia Krueger, SPASD Special Education teacher and her aide, brought four children with IEPs to Gingerbread House child care for art and socialization. It was such a success that Gingerbread House offered the next year to serve as a natural environmental setting for school district children with IEPs.

The Sun Prairie Area School District provides a range of preschool options for families of children with disabilities. Options include full inclusion in several community child care centers, consultation and itinerant support services in preschools, child care and family child care, home based programming and self contained for some children.
