Serving Dual Language Learners: About

We would like to thank Ruth A. Reinl for her work in developing the Facts & Tips and learning modules and the EDLLI Advisory Committee in reviewing all materials.

Early Dual Language Learner Initiative (EDLLI)

The newly developed Early Dual Language Learner Initiative (EDLLI) provides resources, professional development, and technical assistance to community partners regarding culturally and linguistically responsive practices for young children, birth through 5. The EDLLI Advisory Team, comprised of over 25 stakeholders, and its smaller Steering Committee were created as part of this initiative to help coordinate and advance efforts on behalf of young children who are dual language learners and their families throughout Wisconsin. In addition, EDLLI collaborates with other state initiatives in order to include the strengths and needs of young dual language learners and their families in different statewide trainings such as those provided by Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS), Preschool Options Project, and the Wisconsin Pyramid Model for Social Emotional Competence.
