The
State Legislature created the Children's Trust
fund in 1983, making Wisconsin one of the first
states in the nation to have a special fund dedicated
to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Children's Trust Funds now exist in every state
in the nation.
Administered
by the twenty-member Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention
Board, the Children's Trust Fund works on many
fronts to promote the need and responsibility
to protect children from abuse and neglect. We
provide information to the state legislature,
executive branch, and key public policymakers,
as well as advocate for legislation and public
policy to protect our children, enhance family
functioning, and support prevention activates.
The
Children's Trust Fund leads statewide efforts
to protect children from abuse and neglect. We
work in partnership with communities, state and
federal governments, private foundations, and
individuals to ensure all parents have the skills,
education, and resources they need to prevent
maltreatment of children.
In
order to raise public awareness, we partner with
public and private agencies to develop and distribute
educational materials such as positive parenting
methods, appropriate child development expectations,
protecting children from sexual abuse, and preventing
Shaken Baby Syndrome.
We
also provide funds and assistance to local family
resource centers and support programs that expand
the capacity of communities to work with parents
and children.
We
envision a statewide culture that encourages family
and community life where our children can develop
and flourish in a safe environment free from all
forms of abuse and neglect. Visit our website
