Module 2 Overview

Primary Learning Goals:

• Participants will distinguish between five purposes of assessment for young children (slides 1-9).
• Participants will discuss what ongoing assessment includes (slides 10-14).
• Participants will discuss four principles that guide ongoing assessment and the basis for these principles from recommendations for practice from NAEYC and DEC (slides 15-33).
• Participants will consider the role of commercial assessment instruments in ongoing assessment and will review the Assessment Resources Handout 2.3 (slides 34-37).
